Abstract

The aim of this research was to study personality components among patients with major depression (MDD) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and health group. Materials & Methods: This study was conducted on 50 depressive patients and 50 OCD were selected by available sampling method among the patients of psychiatric clinics and consulting centers of Tabriz. The control group included 50 people selected from students and staff of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. All patients were asked to complete the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II), Maudsley obsessive-compulsive Inventory (MOCI), and NEO-FFI. Results: The findings revealed that there was a significant difference between OCD with MDD in extraversion and neuroticism factors (p< 0/01) and between OCD with health group as well. Also there was a significant difference between OCD with health group in agreeableness (p< 0/01) and between OCD with MDD as well and there was a significance difference between MDD with OCD and MDD with health group in the factor of conscientiousness. Conclusion: Based on the research findings some of the personality variables can be considered as relevant with OCD and MDD.
