Abstract

Body fitness is one of the effective elements in health of a society. The purpose of this research was to study of effects of gender and body composition on body fitness factors on students aged 17-19 years using the FFMI-FMI regression model. Materials & Methods: This study was conducted on 300 students (150 girls and 150 boys) selected randomly as subjects. Using with FFMI-FMI regression model, the subjects were categorized into three normal, solid, and the slender groups. The sub maximal Bulk test used to determine cardio respiratory fitness (VO2max), sit-up, Velz and Eilly noise tests were used to estimate muscle endurance, flexibility and agility of students, respectively. The data were analyzed with SPSS. Results: Covariance analysis showed that after adjustment with sex, solid group had more VO2max, more muscle endurance, and more agility than the other groups. (P<0.05) Boys were better than girls in cardio respiratory fitness, muscle endurance, and agility. Instead, girls were better in the flexibility test. (P<0.05) Conclusion: Based on the data result, intervention effects of body composition and gender has co-increment impact on significant enhances of VO2max and agility in adolescences. On the other hand, the significant differences in cardio respiratory and agility tests between two genders were due to their different body composition.
