Abstract

So far several studies have been administrated to investigate the effectiveness of self-care on the quality of life of chronic patients, but it seems that the rate and effective size of these interventions are the issues deserving more attention and investigation. Thus the purpose of this meta-analysis was to investigate the effectiveness of the interventions based on self-care on the quality of life of chronic patients in Iran. Materials & Methods: Instrument of the research was a checklist of meta-analysis including 11 studies performed in Iran between 2005-2011. Each of these studies had underlying appropriate statistic data to be included in this meta-analysis. Results: The results showed that the amount of effect size of interventions based on self-care on the quality of life, was 0/89 (P< 0/00001). Conclusion: Based on the results of this meta-analysis, and according to Cohen's interpretation, the effect size of interventions based on self-care was high in the quality of life of chronic patients.
