Abstract
Anxiety as an intensifier at cardiovascular reactions can endanger patients in angiography clinics. The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of aroma inhalation on the hemodynamic condition of patients experiencing coronary angiography. Materials & Methods: This research is a clinical trial study to determine the effect of aromatherapy on hemodynamic signs of 91 patients hospitalized in Fateme Zahra hospital in 2012.Considering the conditions and methods of sampling, the patients were divided into two subject and control groups randomly. Research variables included hemodynamic variables in addition to demographic data. Intervening measures were done by Lavendula aroma in subject group and distilled water in control group. In both groups, hemodynamic parameters were measured before angiography. Collected data were analyzed by T-Test and chi-square statistical trial. Result: The results showed that the rate of the variables of systolic blood pressure, pulse rate and the number of breathing before angiography and the rate of the variables of systolic blood pressure, pulse rate and the number of breathing after angiography showed meaningful statistical difference. Conclusion: Considering the results it can be recommended to use aromatherapy before invasive studies like angiography as a health care intervention without any harmful side effects for patients
