Abstract

One of the factors in evaluating health care quality is assessing treatment satisfaction of patient with type Ȇ diabetes. This study was aimed to investigate the relationship between health locus of control, memory and physician-patient relationship with satisfaction of treatment. Materials & Methods: In this correlation study 115 patients with type Ȇ diabetes, who referred to Tabriz Sina hospital in June-August 2010, were included. The samples filled the following five questionnaires: demographic questions, patient-doctor relationship questionnaire (PDRQ-19), patient satisfaction questionnaire (PSQ-18), prospective and retrospective memory questionnaire (PRMQ), and multidimensional health locus of control (MHLC). The data were analyzed through Pearson’s correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis methods. Results: The results indicated that there was a positive significant relation between external health locus of control and desired physician- patient relationship with satisfaction of treatment in patients with type Ȇ diabetes. However, the findings indicated no significant association between memory with satisfaction of treatment. In addition, physician-patient relationship had a significant power for prediction of treatment satisfaction. Conclusion: These results support the idea that patients with type Ȇ diabetes who had external health locus of control and desired relationship with their physicians were more satisfied with the treatment. Finally, desired physician- patient relationship potentially leads to better satisfaction of the treatment
