Abstract

According to international statistics, 60% of populations are suffering from the diseases caused by sleeping disorers and widespread difficulties like cardiovascular, pulmonary, digestive and mental diseases are sleep disorders. Materials& methods: This study is a descriptive- comparative study in which the prevalence of parasomnia is comparaed between the male and female students inhabited Azad University of Dehaghan living in dormitories. Questioners were used to collect data. Samples include 700 students (350 girls and 350 boys) inhabited in the dormitories. They were selected by census method. Data was analyzed by SPSS software and descriptive and inferential statistics were used. Results: Finding showed that the average grade of parasomenia in boys is.44 (SD=0.76) and girls is 3.58 (SD=0.73). There was significant statistical differences between boys and girls (p<0.05).The comparison of average grades of boys and girls showed that there are more disorders in girls than there are in boys. Conclusion: Results of this research showed that there is an obvious differences in the prevalence of parasomnia and sleeping disorders between boys and girls. Also we draw the authorities, medical doctors and the university students, attention to the point that as sleeping disorder have physical and mental compilications and affect the daily activities; some of the basic measures should be introduced for removing them.
