Abstract

Sleep is an essential need of human and covers 1/3 of his lifetime. Sickness increase its duration. Environmental, Physiologic, Psyologic factors like light, Temperature, noise , bed comfort, fear, anxity and pain can change its quality and qauantity. Confidence about enough rest and sleeping in patients is one of the most important responsiblities of nurses. Nurses must know about causes and that disturbes sleep and rest for hospitalized patients. Results: The study reveals that 55.8% of patients had insomnia and some causes were the most factors of insomnia (48%) and methods of treatment and environmental factors were the other causes of insomnia. Methods & Materials: A questionnaire was used for determining of insomnia causes. Discussion: Patient sleeping is one the most of important responsibilities of nurses. So nurses should have knowledge about patients sleeping methods and their sleep disorders to help to reduce insomnia in hospitalized patient.
