Abstract

Proper use of health and medical resources is a pivotal issue in our country. High population and low resources requires farsighted management in this area. Unplanned readmissions disturb medical service delivery and cause investment wastage. Method: This research is descriptive survey. The goal of this study is to identify operated inpatient rehospitalization reasons. All of 244 records pertaining to operated impatiens in the year 1383 who rehospitalized during the same year studied. Results: 21.3% of patients readmitted because of a problem pertaining to surgery. The first reason for rehospitalization is post surgical complication (73%) and the second is post surgical infection (21.2%). The surgery word has highest readmissions (63.5%). ALOS [1] in first hospitalization is 5.1 day and at the readmission is 5.4 Discussion: Patients must receive adequate services after operation, early discharge may cause serious health problems for them. Home care after discharge from hospital by professionals is very important and can cause the decrease of rehospitalization. High attention to sterilization prevents post surgical infections
