Abstract

Preterm infants need more intensive care than term infants. If this period becomes short and mothers take care of their infants, mortality rate decreases and cost of hospital become low. To prevent the complications and decrease mortality rate, it is necessary to educate mothers. Methods & Materials: Cohort study bas been carried out on 104 mothers who have had pre-term delivery in Tajrish hospital. We have randomly selected our samples and accidentally divided them into two groups of case and control. 52 mothers were placed in care group and 52 in control group. None of the infants had congenital abnormality and none of the mothers had previnous history of chronical diseases. Mothers in control group were educated on home-care of pre-term infants orally they watched a film after delivery and at discharge time. However, standard care was give to mothers of control group. Both groups continued this education on taking care of 1-3 months infants after delivery. Results: Mean ages were 25+3 years and 68% of mothers were nulipar. The most reason preterm is P.R.O.M. Of 104 mothers 92% after one month and 84% after three month. referred. Preterm infant care in two groups after one and three was not significant (PConsultation : The home cares education effects on decreasing of preterm infant mortality and morbidity. So home care education for mothers is the must useful practice in infant health promotion
