Abstract

Tuberculosis is a disaster disease, in spite of progresses of technology and medical sciences. Early diagnosis and treatment is the first step of controling and prevention of diseases and patient education and his/her family is important. Methods & Materials : A description study was done by a questionnaire from the patients and one of their family members over 15 years and and treatment center of Urmia by a simple random sampling. Results: 24% of the patients and 26% of their families about the signs of disease, 46% of the patients and 60% of their families about its treatment and complications, 30% of the patients and 48% of their family about its prevention and control and 58% of the patients and 62% of their families about the selfeare had a weak knowledge. Discussion: 85% of the patients and their families had a moderate or weak knowledge about tuberculosis and need to a strong education and training
