Abstract

One of the key goals in the care of patients with diabetes, elevated levels of adherence to treatment and recommendations offered by group therapy. The family as the basic unit of society is responsible for the proper health care to his patient. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of family centered care on laboratory examinations in patients with type II diabetes in Khoy Shahid Madani Hospital has been done. Materials & Methods: This study is a quasi-experimental study. The number of 80 patients with type II diabetes and one of his family members from Khoy Shahid Madani Hospital selected by convenience sampling and randomly assigned to intervention and control groups. At first degree was measured laboratory values (Fasting blood glucose, Random blood glucose and hemoglobin A1C) before the study. Then family centered care was conducted for the experimental group and again After 3 months follow-up was measured laboratory values (Fasting blood glucose, Random blood glucose and hemoglobin A1C) in Patients in both groups. For data analysis using spss-20 descriptive and inferential statistical tests were performed. Results: The results of the study showed that the mean scores in Fasting blood glucose, Random blood glucose and hemoglobin A1C in each group before the intervention was not significantly different. (p>0/05) and After the implementation of family-centered care the mean scores in fasting blood glucose, random blood glucose and hemoglobin A1C in each group after the intervention was significantly different. (p<0/05). Conclusion: According to the results of this study Family-centered care could reduce levels of in Fasting blood glucose, Random blood glucose and hemoglobin A1C .Therefore it is recommended that the care provided to patients with diabetes
