Abstract
Burn is one of the most painful injuries that can be experienced by the human being. Despite the fact that spiritual well-being plays an important role in the reduction of pain, the relationship is not well studied in burn patients. Materials & Methods: This cross-sectional study is conducted to evaluate the relationships between spiritual well-being and pain in hospitalized burn patients. A total of 84 patients, who were hospitalized at the Imam Khomeini Hospital of Urmia selected as the sample for the study. To assess study variables, patients completed self- report measures: The Spiritual Well-Being Scale and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Additionally, demographic data gathered by a self-constructed questionnaire. At the morning of next day, intensity and quality of procedural pain assessed at bathing and dressing change time. Results: the results showed a significant and inverse relationship between the spiritual health and pain intensity (r =- 0.522 p < 0.0001).Regarding the demographic variables associated with spiritual health, data showed a statistically significant relationship between spiritual health and living environment with marital condition (p < 0.001) and education level of participants (p = 0.004). There was a significant correlation between education level, depth and level of pain intensity (p< 0.001). Conclusion: according to the study, improve dimension of spiritual health as the influential factor in reducing the pain of burn patients and provide care based on culture are necessary
