Abstract

One of the most important issues in the health care system is the observance of patient safety indicators, especially in special sections. In this regard, the evaluation of patient safety assessment in intensive care wards is an important issue. This study aimed to evaluate the patient safety assessment indicators in the intensive care wards of private hospitals and educational hospitals of Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences in 2019. Materials & Methods: The present study was descriptive-comparative. The statistical population included all nurses in the morning, evening and night shifts in the intensive care units of private hospitals and educational hospitals of Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences. 230 nurses were examined by targeted census. To collect research data, the standard questionnaire of patient safety indicators was used. After collecting data, the research data were analyzed using statistical tests of Mann-Whitney's Uanalysis in SPSS software. Results: The results showed that there was a significant difference between the mean index of drug measures, nursing care, patient injury during care, patient identification, patient decline, patient-to-patient training, diagnostic-therapeutic methods, infection control, and blood transfusion. in the intensive care wards of private hospitals and educational hospitals of Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences. Conclusion: Patient safety assessment indicators in the intensive care wards of educational hospitals of Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences are better observed compared to private hospitals
