Abstract

Disorders of cognitive functions are considered as the components of the
Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Neuropsychological functions could be
remediated by neuropsychological and cognitive rehabilitation exercise. This study aimed to determine
the effectiveness of combination neuropsychological rehabilitation on cognitive and behavioral function
of children with ADHD.
Materials & Methods: The present quasi-experimental study designed with a pre-test and post-test
group. Participants were twelve children with ADHD and they were in 7-13 age range. They were
evaluated with the Conners’ Parents Questionnaire and Continuous Performance Test II. The
participants received neuropsychological rehabilitation in 10 sessions. The data were analyzed with
paired t-test.
Results: It was revealed that there were significant differences between scores of pre-test and post- test
in Conners’ Parents Questionnaire (p< 0.001) and Continuous Performance Test II (p<0.0001).
Conclusion: The results of this study indicated that combination of neuropsychological rehabilitation
leads to the improvement of sustained attention and inhibition by affecting the related brain areas. Also,
improvement of this cognitive functions reduce behavioral symptoms of ADHD
