Abstract

Cancer is an old disease that historically began along with medicine history and causes the death of innumerable people every year in has prejudical effects on human physical, affectional, intellectual Social and economical dimensions. The nurses as persons having nearest contact with patients must be familiar with effective communication therapy methods and apply them in eliminating patient's various difficulties. Therefore the researchers decided to carry out a study in order to determination of cancer patient communication with nursing staff of Urmia Imarn Khomeini Hospital, would that it were a positive step in eliminating these patients problems. Methods & Materials: In a descriptive study, all of the cancesous patients were chosen with purposive sampling method. A questionnaire and descriptive statistics for data collection and data analyzing, were used. Result: The average'age was 26.5 years.From educational point of view, most of them certified primary education, 47.05% religionally most (%70.28) of the samples were Sunnites 70.28%. The average illness and chemotherapy duration were 18.43 and 13.48 months, respectivehy. The results showed that most (%58.82) of the research population had moderate communication levels with their nurses. Discussion: Diagnosing of cancer is a very stressful for patients and their fanfflies Paying attention to the results that indicated "that most (I/o58.2) of the patients had moderate levels of communication with their nurses: it is proposed for nurses to establish a near (eye to eye) communication with patients for beginning an effective pace in reducation of their difficulties and mental stresses
