Abstract

Managers are one of the effective factors in improvement of the organizations efficacy, effectiveness, and productivity. Nursing managers' efficacy has an important role in health organizations success. Last studies indicate that the exploration of nurses' experiences lead to direct and indirect effects on nursing care process and profession. The aim of the study is the exploration of retired nurses' experiences from nursing managers and management. Materials & Methods: This study was a qualitative research in 2010. Twenty retired nurses were selected based on purposeful and theoretical sampling. The main way for data collection was semistructured interviews. For analysis of data, we use qualitative content analysis method. Result: Interviews analysis led to finding numerous subthemes for example not paying enough attention to evaluation process, motivation fostering necessity, attention to supporting staff and usage of effective and suitable management style. Unsuitable nursing management was more insisted. Conclusion: Findings of this study that are based on retired nurses' experiences can improve relationships development, work experience exchange, efficient management, manager-nurse mutual support, professional consistency, and manager-nurse mutual trust and provide a suitable background for professional development and promotion
