Abstract

Health teams are experts and health workers in health care centers who work with family physicians to promote and ensure a healthy life. Satisfaction of health teams affects the efficacy, quantity and quality of health services. This survey was performed to evaluate the level of satisfaction in health teams about the function of family physicians in medical universities of the Northern provinces of Iran. Materials & Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed in autumn of 2008. For sampling 20% of health care centers in the universities of Golestan, Mazandaran, Bobol and Gilan were selected randomly then experts and health workers were interviewed using a questioner. The data were analyzed in SPSS. Results: From 959 samples, 398 were dentists, experts, and health workers in health care centers and 561 were health workers in health homes. Satisfaction level of the health teams of the functions of family physicians was high and some managerial functions of family physicians were slightly lower. Satisfaction level in both groups of health team members was studied and there was a significant difference. (P <0.05) Conclusion: Since the level of satisfaction in health teams about management of family physicians was low, it is necessary to improve and promote the managerial functions of family physicians in health care centers
