Abstract
This article is based on bibliometric features investigating the rate of visibility of Urmia Medical Journal
papers between 2001 and 2016. The target population consisted of 6 medical journals of Northwest
Medical Universities of Iran.
The research data were extracted from Scopus database based on advanced search features and then
transferred to Microsoft Excel for further data manipulation.
The result showed that the rate of Urmia Medical Journals visibility compared to other journals under
consideration was in favorable condition. As we came closer from 2006 to current years, almost all
journals visibility increased. However, the trend of visibility rate for Kurdistan and Urmia journals
which take the first and second place get better over time. Kurdistan medical journal with 342 times has
taken 29% of total of 1307 citations. The Kurdistan medical journal is the only journal which was
indexed in Scopus. Urmia Medical Journal with 22% of total citation and with 17% of foreign citations
was in the second place. In order to boost the rate of visibility some practical recommendations were
given
