Abstract
Hospitalization for parents and children causes anxiety. Therefore, evaluation
of parents' satisfaction concerning their child's nursing care is necessary. Observing parental
satisfaction is important in determining the quality of child care. The purpose of this study was to
determine parental satisfaction with hospitalized children’s health care.
Materials & Methods: The descriptive study covered 60 parents of thalassemic children in three
hospitals of east Gilan. Data were gathered by a questioner on demographic characteristics and another
questioner investigating the parents' satisfaction rate in six areas of health care information, family
participation, communication, clinical skills, overall satisfaction, and emotional needs. The analysis of
the data was carried out by SPSS.
Results: The findings revealed that 10.3% of parents were satisfied with the health care. There was a
significant relationship between parents’ age, education level, child’s history of hospitalization, and
health care satisfaction.
Conclusion: In order to increase client's satisfaction of hospital services more effort is required
