Abstract
Streptokinase is one of the most useful drugs in acute myocardial infarction.
Researches show that timely given injection of streptokinase decreases total mortality. Allergic
reaction and bleeding are possible side effects. This research was aimed to determine the adverse
reactions of streptokinase in patients with or without hydrocortisone- injection in Ramsar and
Tonekabon hospitals in 2007-2008.
Materials & Methods: In this quasi-experimental study simple random sampling method was used in
CCU wards in Ramsar's Imam Sajjad and Tonkabone Shahid Rajaei hospitals. The patients were
divided in two groups (those using and not using hydrocortisone). The data were collected with a
demographic questionnaire and a check list. Descriptive- analytical statistics (chi-square) were used
and the data were analyzed by SPSS software and.
Results: The findings showed in groups using hydrocortisone, fever and chill was %3.33, fever 3.33%,
chill 1.67%, vomiting, nausea , chill 1.67%, and PVC 53.3%. In the group not using hydrocortisone
chill was 5%, fever 5%, and PVC 50%. There was no significant association between side effects with
dependent variable.
Conclusion: There was no significant difference in side effects between the group using the
hydrocortisone and the other group. Considering serious side effects that may be happen after
streptokinase injection, it is necessary to have regular check-ups
