Abstract

Today, attention to quality of life is one of the interesting categories among
international community. Thus, researchers seek to measure the impact of mental
and physical illness on human ability to perform daily activities. This research was aimed to study the
quality of life of the staff working in training, medical and psychiatric research center at Baharan
hospital of Zahedan in December 2010.
Materials & Methods: This descriptive study included 55 employees selected by stratified random
sampling method. Assessment tool consisted of demographic information and WHOQOL-BREF
questionnaire to measure four dimensions of quality of life including physical, psychological,
relations and environmental health. For data analysis, t-test and f-test were used.
Result: %43.63 of employees was dissatisfied of the quality of their lives that is a worrying result. The
highest levels of dissatisfaction were from environmental health, relationships, mental and physical.
Between quality of life and its sub-categories based on personal gender, employment status, and
duration of service, marital status, and education level there was no significant difference. Quality of
life was significantly different between employees with no executive jobs compared with those with
executive jobs.
Conclusion: Considering the disturbing situation of personnel, the quality of life is necessary and the
following solutions were recommended: delegating authority and responsibility to other employees to
reduce physical and mental stress from work and encouraging employees to perform continuous
exercise and medical examinations
