Abstract

Adolescence and puberty is one of the most sensitive periods of human life
that causes the person feel and behave differently. Undoubtedly adolescence directly affects nutritional
status and nutrient needs and is associated by physical activity, emotional and social changes.
Therefore, this study was conducted to promote the management of mothers during adolescence of
their daughters in guidance schools of Urmia.
Materials & Method: This quasi-experimental study included 80 mothers and their daughters. The
questionnaire was Endler and Parker's Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (CISS) that included
demographic data and research objectives. A pre and post test was taken. The data were analyzed
using inferential and descriptive statistics were used.
Results: The findings showed girls knowledge on nutrition issues during puberty increased
significantly in clinic one; of physical problems in clinic two and three respectively (p=0.076, p=0.01,
p=0.04). Maternal training improved nutritional issues during puberty in clinic two and in connection
with physical problems in clinics one and two, respectively (p=0.013, p=0.04, p=0.022). There was no
significant relationship between training and psychological-social problems among mothers and
daughters.
Conclusion: This study showed that training offers dramatic changes in knowledge of adolescents and
their parents during puberty. It is recommended to continue such training courses in schools for both
teens and their mothers to enhance managing puberty period
