Abstract
People’s psychosocial skills needs to be promoted in order to overcome
personal and social problems.
Materials & Methods: In this semi-experimental study, 53 young couples (106 individuals) being
determined to get married formed the research units. For gathering information a questionnaire in tow
parts including 14 questions about demographic details of persons and 36 questions about the domains
of life skills had been set. The questionnaires were filled out before and after the instruction. The data
were analyzed by SPSS software and t-test.
Results: The results showed that life skills training was effective with an average of 2.27 grades
before training and 3.32 average grades after training. Life skills training was effective on decision
making , assertiveness domain, self recognition, unanimity domain, problem solving domain,
individual health and family planning domain, critique and critical thinking domain, stress
management, anger control domain, self express domain, and child nutrition domain. The rate of Pvalue in all fields is less than %5.
Conclusion: Considering the higher average grades after training in most fields, the most effective
domain was that of problem solving skills with average of 3.48 and the least effective was in the field
of self-expression skills with the average of 2.72. It is obvious that the instruction was effective in
whole training fields, and is strongly recommended for young couples
