Abstract
Family is the resource of psychological, physical, sexual and emotional needs of
its members. This research tries to study and describe Iranian family in the concept of health and
illustrate its basics and damages in.
Matherial & Methods: This research is a qualitative and phenomenological research. The data are
gathered through deep interviews, research sample is a group involved 25 experts. Sampling was
purposive and voluntarily.
Results: Analyzing the data showed that the experts of different field believe in a transitioned family so
the Iranian family is a family that is going toward modern society. But this family is not standing firmly
on the range of modernity and traditions so that in some aspects it is closer to the traditional family and
in some others it acts like a modern family. In line with a global pattern, Urbanization, nuclear family,
families with only one child, the growing process of cohabitants which is not legal and religiously
accepted, single-parent families, a greater presence of women in society, and decreasing the power of
the man in family and increasing role of children can be consider as signs of modernity in Iranian
families.
Conclusion: This results can be used to develop prevention programs and the empowerment of Iranian
families. In the long term, the implementation of programs aimed at informing families about the
harmfulness of paying too much attention to the child, proper parent training, communication skills and
problem solving training of family members can have a positive effect on the health and well-being of
Iranian families.
