Abstract
Diabetes management requires an individual commitment to health behaviors
aimed at reducing the risks Complications of the disease. Interactive motivational interview is a
promising way to change the behavior of health. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the
effect of motivational interview on laboratory findings in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Materials & Methods: The present study was an experimental study with randomized sampling on 60
patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus members who had conditions for participation in the study. It was
executed in 1395. Data were collected using a demographic questionnaire by interviewing and taking
blood samples. Each member of the intervention group received 5 sessions of 45-30 minutes under a
motivational interview. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.
Results: Findings showed that independent t-test results showed before and After conducting a selfefficacy-based motivational interview, the mean values of blood glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides and
Glycosylated hemoglobin was not significantly different between the two intervention and control
groups (p <0.05).
Conclusion: Intervention of self-efficacy-based motivational interviewing in 5 sessions did not show
positive effect on type 2 diabetes. Therefore, it is recommended that this intervention take place in more
time and sessions
