Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the possibility of establishing electronic medical records in educational
hospitals affiliated to Urmia University of medical sciences considering technical, organizational and
legal factors. This study was conducted using a descriptive cross-sectional research method in 2013. The
study population consisted of 98 senior and junior managers who worked in the hospitals under this study.
A questionnaire including two sections was used for data collection. Result of the five hospitals under
investigation, awareness of participants was in moderate level. In terms of requirements, there was a
statistically significant difference between the mean score of hospital "D” (p = 0.000) and the rest. It is
highly recommended that efforts should be made to establish electronic medical records in the three
hospitals which are ready for its deployment.
