Abstract

TB as a major public health problem in the world. Weaknesses in screening,
inadequate treatment, drug resistance and TB epidemics coincide with the AIDS, TB control program
has encountered a serious problem. To clarify the process improvement and control of tuberculosis a
monitoring and evaluation system is essential. So that this study aimed to provide a clear picture of the
status of tuberculosis and the efficiency and effectiveness of the disease surveillance system was
designed in West Azerbaijan province.
Materials & Methods: this study was cross-sectional, the study population included all TB patients
diagnosed and registered in Western Azerbaijan province between 2006 to 2013. Data were analyzed
using SPSS 20 software. The outcome and process indices were computed and compared with
Standards.
Results: Of the 2009 patients with TB in the province of West Azerbaijan, 4/ 51% were women and 33
percent of patients had over 60 years of age. Derived indicators for the years of study includes success
rate on average 94/ 79%, incidence of smear-positive cases per 100000 population on average 12/ 3,
cure rate on average 51/ 75% and Failure rate On average was above 4%.
Conclusion; the causes of delay in diagnosis, delay in treatment, Indexes inappropriate indicate a
problem in the implementation of TB care programs in Western Province is Azerbaijani. Finally, it is
recommended that Personnel training, Fix management deficiencies and Budget has taken into
consideration.
